Description
Why send queries to the DNS root servers when you can answer them yourself? Most DNS resolver implementations now support the concept of "LocalRoot", which increases local privacy, zeros latency to the root zone, and protections against network outages. In this session users will be shown how to turn this support on in various resolver software.
Bring a linux or other laptop supporting Unbound, Knot or Bind to try it yourself during the session. This will be followed by a community discussion about ways to contribute the results of using LocalRoot on the network to DNS researcher networks like DNS-OARC.
A brief agenda :
* Introduction
* Background on LocalRoot
* Interactive session deploying LocalRoot yourself
* Community discussion on the future of DNS research in a LocalRoot enabled world
