Please contact us soon if you have a topic (research or operational) you'd like to present (or see presented) at this meeting.

Ottawa Information

For those looking for details on getting between the airport and hotel, or for just getting around town while you're here, I've gathered together a bit of information.

The Ottawa airport has rates and other transportation information collected here.

Most people will be interested in the Taxi Service or Hotel Shuttle.

A cab ride to the hotel will cost somewhere around $25, and will likely take around 20 minutes, unless you're arriving in the morning when traffic is moving toward downtown.

The shuttle bus is $14 per person (less if you're in a group) and the trip time will vary depending on how many stops it's making, but will probably be comparable to a cab. To return to the airport by shuttle you must call the bus company or ask your hotel to arrange a pickup. A schedule for return trips and the bus company phone number can be found here.

Taking public transit from the airport is also a possibility, though the trip is much longer. The bus route recommended by the airport has a stop near Albert Street and Kent Street, which is a block East of the hotel. I believe this rather ugly URL will get you to trip instructions.. but please let me know if it doesn't work for anyone.

Ottawa's downtown area is fairly small, so most places you might want to visit while here should be easy to walk to. I can cross most of the downtown area diagonally on foot in about 25 minutes.

If you find you want to go somewhere that's a bit further out of the way, cabs and the city bus are easy to come by. Most busses are $3 or 2 tickets, but be aware that there are some express and special service busses that have special fares. The bus system has an excellent trip planner on their web site which makes getting anywhere pretty simple.
