DNS-OARC will host a full day of Community-Led Sessions on Wednesday, 11 November 2026, following the main OARC 47 workshop programme.
These sessions are designed to create space for practical work, smaller-group discussion, hands-on learning, focused collaboration, and community-led topics that can be difficult to fit into the regular workshop agenda.
Participation in the Community-Led Sessions is included with OARC 47 registration and does not require an additional fee. You must be registered for OARC 47 to participate in a Community-Led Session, whether attending in person or remotely.
Registration for OARC 47 does not automatically reserve an in-person place in a Community-Led Session. In-person capacity is limited, and attendees must complete the separate Community-Led Sessions sign-up process.
Location
The Community-Led Sessions will be held at the Delta Hotels Vancouver Downtown Suites, located next door to the main OARC 47 programme venue.
Please note that the Community-Led Sessions are not being held in the same venue as the main OARC 47 programme. Attendees should plan to go directly to the Delta Hotels Vancouver Downtown Suites on Wednesday morning.
Session programme and descriptions
The Community-Led Sessions programme is available through the OARC 47 timetable/schedule.
Please select an individual session in the timetable to view its full description, presenter information, format, and any recommended preparation or advance materials.
Two rooms will be used throughout the day, with sessions running concurrently.
Session sign-ups
You must be registered for OARC 47 before submitting the Community-Led Sessions sign-up survey.
In-person participation is limited to approximately 15 people per session. General sign-ups will be first come, first served, based on the time the Community-Led Sessions sign-up survey is submitted.
Rather than registering separately for individual sessions, attendees will be asked to rank the sessions they are interested in attending. You do not need to rank every session; sessions you are not interested in can be left unranked.
Rankings will be used to allocate the available in-person places. If one of your higher-ranked sessions reaches capacity, you may be placed on a limited waitlist while we use your other ranked choices to try to confirm an in-person place in another session.
A small number of participants may also be confirmed in advance by session organizers where their participation is particularly relevant to the work of that session.

Sign-ups are now open. The survey link is also being shared through OARC email and Mattermost. Submitting the survey does not immediately confirm an in-person place. Confirmations and waitlist information will be sent separately after the initial allocation.
Submit your preferences by 23:59 UTC on 30 October to be included in the initial allocation of in-person places. Sign-ups may remain open after that date for remaining availability and waitlists.
What to expect
The Community-Led Sessions programme includes a mix of formats such as:
- hands-on tutorials and training
- software and tool demonstrations
- working group sessions
- standards and BCP discussions
- focused technical discussions
- collaborative problem-solving
- operator and community knowledge sharing
Some sessions are intended to be highly interactive, while others may be more instructional or discussion-focused. Please review the individual session descriptions in the OARC 47 timetable before submitting your preferences.
Where presenters provide pre-study or read-ahead materials, these will also be made available through the workshop programme ahead of the session.
Schedule
Community-Led Sessions will run from 08:30–16:30 PST (UTC−8) on Wednesday, 11 November.
The day is structured around the following session blocks:
- 08:30–10:00 — Session block
- 10:00–10:30 — Morning coffee break
- 10:30–12:00 — Session block
- 12:00–13:00 — Lunch
- 13:00–14:30 — Session block
- 14:30–15:00 — Afternoon coffee break
- 15:00–16:30 — Session block
Two rooms will be used throughout the day, allowing sessions to run concurrently.
Remote participation
Remote access will vary by session and will be offered at the discretion of the individual session organizer.
The Community-Led Sessions will not use the same full AV setup as the main OARC 47 programme. Where Zoom access is offered, we expect to use a lightweight setup consisting of a laptop and, where available, a Meeting Owl.
Depending on the session, remote access may include:
- viewing and listening only
- remote questions or comments relayed into the room
- more active two-way participation
- no live remote access
Session organizers will determine the appropriate level of remote participation for their session.
Any Zoom access should be considered best effort and may not provide the same remote experience as the main OARC 47 workshop programme.
Remote access, where offered, is limited to registered OARC 47 attendees.
Where a session is available remotely, connection information will be provided through the appropriate OARC 47 channels.
