Thai Visas

We have been notified by our Host, ICANN, that they were recently informed by their conference partner (TCEB/MICE), that most travelers will now need a business visa when entering Thailand for the ICANN DNS Symposium (IDS) 2019 and/or related events in Bangkok.

We are advised that the visa requirements stated until now are now outdated, and that participants need a visa (regardless of MICE event status).

Call to Action

We are therefore recommending as an extra precaution that all OARC 30 participants check visa requirements for their country regarding documents needed when attending a conference, and and ensure you obtain the proper documentation to do so, as we believe the information has recently changed.

If you require a visa invitation letter for OARC 30, please additionally register for ICANN DNS Symposium and request one from them here:

Where Visa applications are required, due to the limited time until our event, we strongly recommend use of a visa expediting agency (such as CIBT) and opt for expedited processing. Other attendees who have already applied for Thai Business visas this way have reported the process was straightforward, and took 1-2 weeks to complete.

We apologize for the short notice and extra inconvenience this will cause OARC 30 attendees - we've been seeking clarity on the Thai immigration position for some months, and all the advice we've had to date indicated the majority of participants would not require a visa. We remain committed to holding OARC 30 on the dates and venue planned.

Please e-mail <admin@dns-oarc.net> if you have any questions, concerns or need help with Thai immigration requirements.
